Fans vent frustration after yet another World Cup match gets washed out
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 is being seriously dented by the weather gods. Being played in England, cricket's biggest carnival has been interrupted by rain on several occasions thus far, thereby pouring cold water on the expectations of the players and fans.
After curtailing the game between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka and washing out the encounters of Sri Lanka vs Pakistan and South Africa vs West Indies, the showers have once again played the spoilsport to abandon the latest fixture between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, marking the third washout in five days!
Making matters worse, the forecasts for some of the upcoming games don't look promising either. The weathermen have already predicted high chances of rain in Nottingham on Thursday when India take on New Zealand in a much-awaited clash.
Clearly, washouts are the last thing the fans would expect in a quadrennial tournament like the World Cup. Frustrated by the developments, several fans took to Twitter to express their dissatisfaction. Slamming ICC for choosing England as the venue for the marquee event, some of the game's followers have even called this the "worst World Cup ever".
Here are a few tweets that reflect the agony:
#CWC19 #SLvsBAN #BANvSL @ICC please abandon Cricket World Cup 2019.

Yesterday, Southampton, SA vs WI - Washout.

Today, Bristol, BAN vs SL - Probably washed out.
Tomorrow, Taunton, AUS vs PAK - 50% chance of rain.
Thursday, Nottingham, IND vs NZ - 80% chance of rain.
Nonsense World Cup.
The captains of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka weren't too pleased either as the washout resulted in both teams sharing one point each. Speaking at the presentation, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said it was frustrating and disappointing for the teams to come to the ground and end up not playing even a single ball.
With heavy rain predicted for Wednesday's game between Australia and Pakistan, the fans can only pray for the skies not to open up and mar yet another exciting encounter.
