ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Match 2 Prediction: WI vs PAK, Who will win the match?

Update: 2019-05-31 11:54 IST

The second match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup will witness West Indies take on Pakistan at Trent Bridge in what is expected to be a high-octane clash.

Reviewing West Indies

The Windies are touted to be the dark horses in the competition this year. Possessing the likes of Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, and Kemar Roach in their ranks, the men from the Caribbean come as daunting opponents who can tame any side on a given day. Additionally, exciting talents like Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Oshane Thomas promise to fortify the team's chances in the tournament.

And if the form in the recent games is anything to go by, West Indies' batters look to pose a serious threat to Pakistan. The Windies have registered scores of 389, 381, 360 and 331 in their last ten ODIs and will hope to continue the same spree in the World Cup as well. It should be noted that they even amassed a mammoth total of 421 in their recent warm-up match against New Zealand and showed that they aren't to be taken lightly.

Reviewing Pakistan

Pakistan have not been on an impressive run in their last few games, accounting for a losing streak this year. They were even beaten by Afghanistan in the warm-up match, raising plenty of concerns among their fan base.

However, the team certainly doesn't look devoid of talent. Ably led by Sarfaraz Ahmed, the green brigade consists of the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan to make them fierce competitors.

Known to put forth commendable performances in ICC tournaments, especially in those played in England, Pakistan will be itching to start the tournament on a winning note this year. However, they will have to overcome the "fear factor" invoked by West Indies to achieve the same on Friday.

Who will win?

West Indies will be entering the fray as the favourites, give the sheer brilliance of their match-winners. Expect them to pip Pakistan on Friday to launch their campaign in style.
