ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Pakistan tops the list of the most dropped catches in the tournament so far

The ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup has been a roller coaster ride so far. While the initial few games were marred by rains, some of the recent matches have proved to be taut thrillers, leaving the fans on the edge of their seats. With a couple of teams from the bottom half of the points table springing up spirited performances, the tournament has been thrown wide open and several sides are in contention for a place in the semi-finals.

One such team that has managed to cling on to its chances is Pakistan. The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side beat South Africa in their latest encounter to breathe another day in the tournament. While the team's batting and bowling showed remarkable improvement against the Proteas, it was their fielding that continued to remain a matter of serious concern. The Pakistani fielders let too many catches slip through albeit none of those goof ups affected the result.

However, their butterfingers on the field have ensured the team accounts for an unwanted record in the tournament. As per stats, Pakistan have dropped as many as 14 catches in the competition so far, making them the team that has dropped the most catches this year. While England comes second in the list with 12 dropped chances, India has proved to be the best fielding unit, dropping just one catch thus far.

With their backs to the wall, the men in green would not want their fielding to ruin their thin chances of progressing in the tournament (provided Australia beats England at Lord's). Sarfaraz Ahmed and Co will have to pull their socks and put on a better show on the field if they are to entertain any chances of beating a strong New Zealand unit at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
