India vs Australia: Not sure if Chahal will play in the 2nd T20I, says Sanju Samson

India batsman Sanju Samson said that he was not sure if Yuzvendra Chahal, who produced a Player of the Match performance after, will play in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) between India and Australia on Sunday. Chahal turned tables around in the first T20I when he took the field as a concussion substitute for Ravindra Jadeja.

Chahal bagged figures of 3 for 30 in his four-over spell, which was instrumental in India's 11-run win at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Saturday. After losing the One-Day International (ODI) series 2-1, it was a great start for Virat Kohli's side in the three-match T20I series.

After opting to bat on Saturday, India posted 161 for 7 in 20 overs, courtesy of a half-century from KL Rahul and Jadeja's cameo of unbeaten 23-ball 44. Jadeja, who struck five fours and a six, was hit on the helmet in the final over and was seen limping.

In a post-match interview, Samson said that the team management will take a call on Chahal's inclusion for the second T20I after assessing Jadeja's situation.

"I'm not sure about that (Yuzvendra Chahal's inclusion in playing XI for the second T20I). First, we have to check how Jadeja bhai is feeling and then team management will take the call and we should wait till that," Samson was quoted by ANI, as saying.

While Australia captain Aaron Finch did not raise questions about Chahal being called in as a concussion substitute, the decision did not go well with a few former and current players, mainly because Jadeja did not undergo a concussion test in the innings break, according to news reports.

Explaining why India took a late call on Jadeja's concussion substitute, Samson said," After the innings when Jadeja came back to the dressing room, he was asked by the physician how he was feeling and he said he was feeling dizzy so according to the concussion rule we had to have a substitute for that and now he is been taken care of."

With the T20 World Cup less than a year away, which is scheduled to be played in India, the players are looking to cement their place in the squad and Samson, who scored 23 off 15 balls on Saturday, said further in the interview that his current focus is to win as many games for his team.

"In the recent past, I have played a lot more international matches and I have been here with the team so you know it very important to keep your mindset as simple as possible and not focus on whether you will get a chance or not. My focus is about winning matches and contributing as much as possible in every chance that I get," added Samson, who has played five T20Is for India to date.

After the 11-run win in the opening T20I, Kohli and Co will look to seal the three-match series in the second game on Sunday that will be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
