Update: 2019-11-03 23:04 IST

Lower order batsmen Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar chipped in with handy cameos to power India to 148 in the first T20I against Bangladesh at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Striking a few lusty blows towards the end, the left-handers accounted for 28 runs off 10 balls together to help the hosts put on a competitive score on a wicket that didn't quite seem to be batsmen-friendly.

For the best part of the innings, the Bangladeshi bowlers put forth a commendable show with the ball to restrict the Indian batsmen from scoring runs freely. Being put into bat first after losing the toss, the Indians were struck with an early blow after losing their skipper Rohit Sharma to Shafiul Islam in the very first over. The likes of Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant failed to kick on after getting into double figures, much to the dismay of the local fans.

While Dhawan top-scored with 41 before getting run-out, Iyer and Pant were sent back to the pavilion just when looked to attack to the bowlers. Debutant Shivam Dube too couldn't amount to much and was dismissed for just one run.

For Bangladesh, it was the spin duo of Animul Islam and Afif Hossain that stood out with the ball. Picking 3 wickets for 33 runs in 6 overs between them, the youngsters ensured that life wasn't easy for the Indian batsmen at the crease.

However, with Pandya and Sundar finding the middle of their bats in the last two overs, India managed to finish the innings on a high. With the pitch holding a lot in store for slow bowlers, India, with three spinners in their ranks, will be hoping to defend the runs on the board.
