India vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I: 2 changes that Team India should make

A spirited performance by Bangladesh stunned India in the first game of the ongoing T20I series. Defeating the hosts by a comprehensive margin of 7 wickets, the Mahmudullah-led side registered its first victory against India in T20Is.

For India, the batsmen failed to put on a challenging score on the board while the bowling unit too seemed to lack potent to run through the Bangladeshi batting line-up. Entering the 2nd T20I with the series on the line, Rohit Sharma and Co will be keen on ironing out the flaws from their previous outing to square the series at Rajkot.

With Sharma already stating that there will a change in the team's approach in the upcoming game, a few new faces could well be gearing up to take the field on Thursday. Here are 2 changes that we think India should make for the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh:

#1 Sanju Samson for Rishabh Pant

While Sanju Samson was named as the back-up wicketkeeper for Rishabh Pant, the Kerala sensation is too good a talent to not deserve a chance in the playing XI. Blessed with silky and elegant strokeplay, Samson has long been deemed as one of the most exciting prospects in Indian cricket. However, a packed Indian team has meant that the youngster hasn't quite got the number of chances that he'd have liked at the international level.

If presented with a chance on Thursday, Samson would be keen on proving his mettle on the big stage. Riding on the back of a breathtaking double century in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, the 24-year-old should get a look in to replace Rishabh Pant who has been failing to justify the selectors' faith in him.

#2 Shardul Thakur for Khaleel Ahmed

With skipper Rohit Sharma hinting a change in the bowling attack, pacer Shardul Thakur is expected to be named in place of Khaleel Ahmed. The left-arm seamer was smashed for 18 runs in the crucial penultimate over of the previous game to account for a forgettable evening.

Shardul Thakur, who last played a T20I for India in March 2018, will be raring to make an impressive comeback to the national side. Adding to his credentials as a T20 bowler are his hard-hitting skills with the bat that could come in handy for the team lower down the order.
