India vs Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma declared fit to play in the first T20I
Ending speculations and providing a sigh of relief to fans, star batsman Rohit Sharma has been cleared to play in India's first T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi.
Sharma, who will be leading India in the T20I series, was hit on the left side of his abdomen during a practice session at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The incident took place when a sharp throwdown hurt the batsman, forcing him to leave the nets midway.
The BCCI though, in a press note, cleared the air surrounding Sharma's injury scare. Stating that India's T20I skipper was hit on the left side of his abdomen while batting in the nets on Friday, the Board informed about the medical team's confirmation regarding his availability to play in the first T20I.
Sharma, who has been in prolific form of late, will be key to India's hopes in the upcoming three match T20I series. The stylish right-hander smashed five centuries in this year's World Cup to stand as the tournament's top run-getter. The 32-year-old wielded magic in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa as well to extend his dream run in 2019.
The first T20I between India and Bangladesh will be played on 3 November at the newly-christened Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
