The World Cup begins! Its celebration time for cricket fans all over the world. This time, World Cup returns to its birth place, England! A quick compilation of facts which makes the game more enthralling and interesting.

1. Herschelle Gibbs is the only player to score 6 sixes in an over. He achieved this feat during the 2007 World Cup against Netherlands.

2. Chaminda Vaas picked a hatrick in the first 3 balls of the game during the 2003 World Cup game against Bangladesh!

3. Lasith Malinga has the dubious distinction of picking 4 wickets in 4 consecutive deliveries during the SL vs SA match in World Cup 2007!

4. Kumara Sangakkara scored 4 centuries in 4 consecutive matches during the last World Cup in 2015!

5. Mahela Jayawardane is the only player to have scored a 100 in World Cup final but yet his team was not o the winning side! He scored a century in 2011 World Cup final.

6. JP Duminy is the only South African player to register a hattrick in World Cup. Moreover, he got this hattrick in a knock out game in the World Cup when SA was playing SL in the quarter final of 2015.

7. During the World Cup 2015, two double centuries were scored, Chris Gayle of West Indies scored 215 against Zimbabwe and Martin Guptill of New Zealand scored 237 against West Indies.

8. India won the World Cup defending a score of 183 in the 1983 World Cup. Pakistan lost the World Cup after making even a lower score of 132 in the 1999 World Cup!

9. India never lost to Pakistan in a World Cup game! Both these teams played each other 6 times and India won 6-0!

10. Australia is the only team to have won the World Cup a record 5 times, 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015.
