Tragedy struck a billion hearts as India fell agonisingly short of a place in the final of the World Cup 2019. Losing to a spirited New Zealand side by a margin of 18 runs in the semi-final, the Men in Blue were forced to end their dream run in this year's showpiece event.

While the game looked out of control at the end of the 30th over, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja scripted a brilliant partnership to bring India back into the game miraculously. The duo essayed resilient knocks and looked set to steer India towards the final. However, the case was not to be as the loss of Jadeja and Dhoni at crucial junctures struck fatal blows to India's chances. On the other hand, Kane Williamson and co succeeded in holding their nerve under pressure and came out trumps to make it to their second consecutive World Cup final.

While the game might have been lost, the fans have been pouring in wishes to the Indian team for their valiant effort. Hailing Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni for their gritty game, the Twitterati stood in support of its favourite team.

India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi too took to Twitter to express his views over the game. "A disappointing result, but good to see #TeamIndia's fighting spirit till the very end. India batted, bowled, fielded well throughout the tournament, of which we are very proud. Wins and losses are a part of life. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours," the Prime Minister wrote after India lost the game.
