If there were a poll to find out the most loved cricketer around the globe in recent times, the result would undoubtedly mark Kane Williamson miles ahead of others. Gentle, sportive and composed, the New Zealand skipper has emerged as a proud ambassador of the gentleman's game.
Known for his matured and collected demeanour on the field,Williamson, on numerous occasions, has shown the right way to conduct oneself while playing the game. One of the latest examples being his graceful acceptance of New Zealand's heartbreaking loss to England in the final of World Cup 2019. Despite ending up on the wrong side due to the game's harsh laws, Williamson swallowed the pill with a smile on his face, drawing admiration from fans all over.
In another such endearing gesture, the New Zealand captain embraced the affection of his fans to mark his birthday celebrations. The incident occurred on Thursday, when Williamson turned 29. As New Zealand took on Sri Lanka Board President's XI in a warm-up game, the New Zealander was seen running in between the overs towards a group of Sri Lankan fans near the boundary.
As the cameras zoomed in, Kane Williamson was spotted eating a piece of cake while reciprocating the gesture of the Sri Lankan fans who were celebrating his birthday. The video and pictures soon went viral on social media with several fans applauding the New Zealand skipper for his humility.

The first Test between Sri Lanka and New Zealand will begin on 14 August in Galle. The second Test is scheduled to be played on 22 August in Colombo. The two-match Test series will be followed by a three-match T20I series in Kandy.
