GITAM Football tournament held
Hyderabad: All the players cheered loudly as the Hyderabad team lifted the winners trophy at the inter-campus football tournament played at the Hyderabad Campus this week, which was organised by Department of Physical Education.
Teams from all three GITAM campuses — Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad and Bengaluru — played against each other from early morning to late evening matches on Thursday and the final was played between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
Based on the performance, GITAM team will be selected among all the players, said Narayana Rao, Physical Director.
Football is a game that requires perseverance, dedication and hard work. Thus it trains students to become better individuals apart from offering them opportunities for physical exercise and the readiness to strive for success.
The tournament ignited team spirit and a feeling of sportsmanship amongst all the players. A sea of varying emotions - Joy, excitement, frustration and aggression – ran through all when a goal was hit or missed.
The game brought out the best in everybody and assisted in further strengthening the bond between the students.
Earlier, GITAM president M Sri Bharat inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. N Siva Prasad, Resident Director DVVSR Varma and GITAM Sports Committee Secretary Dr. K Rama Krishna Rao.
