Renowned club cricketer Sanjay Doval dies in Delhi

New Delhi: Renowned club cricketer and former support staff of Delhi Under-23 team Sanjay Doval died on Monday morning due to Coronavirus infection. A source close to his family gave this information. Doval was 53 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons. Elder son Siddhant plays first-class cricket for Rajasthan and younger son Ekansh is in the Delhi Under-23 team.

A DDCA official said that Doval had symptoms of a coronavirus infection and was earlier admitted to a hospital in Bahadurgarh. During investigation there, he was found positive. After that, when the situation deteriorated, he was admitted to a hospital in Dwarka. He was also given plasma therapy but to no effect. Doval, a known face on the Ferozeshah Kotla ground, was quite popular among Delhi cricketers Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Mithun Manhas. He also played cricket for the Sonnet Club.
