Ronanki clinches double in shooting event

Hyderabad: Gnanasaideep Ronanki of Andhra Pradesh hogged the limelight at the 1st South Zone Shooting Competitions in Big Bore Events by lifting both the Senior and Junior crowns while Gusti Noria from Telengana bagged the title in Veteran Men's category.

Vara Nounisree Botcha from Andhra Pradesh and Kondapally Shriya Reddy from Telengana emerged champions in Women's Senior and Junior events respectively.

Amit Sanghi, president of Telangana Rifle Association, said that the event conducted by Telangana Rifle Association under the aegis of The National Rifle Association of India is the first of its kind in the country.

The three-day event held at the Certified Aman Sanghi 300m Big Bore Shooting Range, Sanghi Nagar, Ranga Reddy District witnessed the participation of around 150 shooters spread across 34 disciplines in Junior, Senior & Veteran both in men and women categories from all over Southern States namely Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The shooting competition concluded on Saturday.

Chief guest D V Seetharama Rao Garu, Jt. Secretary, Indian Olympic Association and Secretary General, National Rifle Association of India, gave away the medals and congratulated all the medal winners.

Congratulating the winners Amit Sanghi said that this competition is the qualifying round for the 63rd National Shooting Competitions in Big Bore Events, 2020.

The venue is the first private Certified Aman Sanghi 300M Big Bore Range in India located at 25km from Hyderabad and constructed as per the prescribed standards and guidelines of the National Rifle Association of India. The Range is having 12 Operational Lanes with CCTV cameras, Pitt System, Viewers Gallery and ample Parking Space, he added.
