Rowing Triathlon organised to promote the sport in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The Telangana Rowing Association on Sunday organised a unique Rowing Triathlon event in the city to promote Rowing as a sport among the people of Hyderabad.
The Triathlon event comprising of Cycling, Running, and Rowing was held on the eve of the 38th Senior National Rowing Champions 2019 for Men and Women, to be held between December 2nd &7th.
Over 200 National-level and State-level rowers took part in the event, which start from the Lumbini Park entrance near State Secretariat and culminated after the rowing-leg of the activity at the SATS Rowing Club, near Secunderabad Boats Club.
Commenting on the event, Dronacharya. Ismail Baig, Coach, Telangana Rowing Association said: "This Rowing Triathlon event is organised to position Rowing as a national sport and increase awareness among the common people of Hyderabad.
The Telangana Rowing Association firmly believes in catching sports enthusiasts at an early age and expose them to Rowing.
"The sport is highly dynamic in nature and would make Rowing enthusiasts much stronger and build a wider talent pool in the city, State and country.
The ultimate objective of promoting rowing is to make India as a strong contender for an Olympic medal in the sport."
The 38th Senior National Rowing Championships will be held on the Hussain Sagar rowing course, along the Sanjeeviah Park.
And the course distance of 2,000 meters will contain four marked lanes, as per thespecifications of FISA (The International Rowing Federation) and RFI (Rowing Federation of India) rules.
All races will begin from the westernend of the lake, opposite ThePark hotel; and the Finish Line will be located at the Boats Club, Sanjeevaiah Park Road.
