Shahid Afridi slams Gautam Gambhir for his comment on India-Pakistan World Cup match

Cricketers Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi are not particularly recalled for sharing a memorable camaraderie between them. Known for their fierce spirit on the field, the former players have not been the best of friends even after retiring from the game, taking jibes at each other whenever an opportunity has presented itself.

In the latestincident, Shahid Afridi has lashed out at Gautam Gambhir for his comment on the India-Pakistan clash in the upcoming World Cup.

Gambhir, in the aftermath of the Pulwama attacks, opined that India should forfeit all its cricketing ties with Pakistan. The recently elected MP said that two points do not hold any significance as compared to the lives of the soldiers who lost their lives while fighting terrorism. Gambhir further added that the country must stand together and India should not hesitate to boycott a game against Pakistan even in the World Cup final.

Afridi, when asked to respond to Gambhir's thoughts, minced no words at a recent press conference. Commenting on the former Indian cricketer's statements, the Pakistani superstar said, "Do you think Gautam's words make any sense? Would a sensible person make such statements? Do educated people talk like this?"

It may be noted that Afridi, in his recently released autobiography, claimed that the Indian cricket had an "attitude problem" and "no personality". Accusing Gambhir of not being "positive", the former Pakistani skipper further added that the southpaw "has no great records but just a lot of attitude."

Gautam Gambhir, while hitting back at the remarks, shared that Afridi needs to be taken to a psychiatrist. Addressing Afridi, he wrote, "you are a hilarious man!!! Anyway, we are still granting visas to Pakistanis for medical tourism. I will personally take you to a psychiatrist."

India is slated to take on Pakistan in a much-awaited clash on June 16 in Manchester.
