'We Mostly Avoid Each Other,' Djokovic opens up on sharing Locker Room with Nadal and Federer
Novak Djokovic recently joked that he avoids his legendary rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer whenever they share the same locker ahead of big ATP matches.
Djokovic, who recently won his 17th Grand Slam at the Australian Open last month, currently is enjoying some off time in Serbia. Since ATP 500 event Dubai Open is set to commence soon, the former World No. 1 gave a press conference back at home where he was asked a very off the subject but a funny question.
One of the reporters asked Djokovic what it was like to share a locker room with Nadal and Federer in the big matches. The Serbian, who is known for his sense of humour, responded to the question with a tinge of wittiness.
"We mostly avoid each other (breaks into laughter). Locker rooms aren't that big everywhere, so we sometimes hide behind our lockers or something like that.
Sometimes we take shower cabins next to each other, but we don't look (chuckling). It's a bit uncomfortable, we are in awkward situations there with our team, huge emotions are on the line," said Djokovic.
Apart from Djokovic, the upcoming Dubai Open will feature the big names like Federer, who is also the defending champion, Gael Monfils, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Fabio Fognini to name a few.
While Women's Dubai Open is already underway, the men's edition will commence from Feb. 24 with the final scheduled to be played on Feb 29. All the matches will be held at the Aviation Club Tennis Centre.
