Man In Tamil Nadu Commits Suicide In Front Of Chief Minister's House
On Monday, tensions rose outside Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's house at CIT Colony, Alwarpet, when a suicide attempt was made. Security forces, though, intervened to prevent him from committing suicide and brought him to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
A senior official of the City Police said the victim who has been identified as A. Vetrimaran of Jameen Devarkulam village of Thoothukudi district had attempted to take the extreme step as his nomination for the village president post for the local bodies election was rejected. Aggrieved at his nomination being rejected, he came to the city and tried to commit suicide in front of the CM's house on Monday morning, demanding his nomination be accepted.
Meanwhile, Ma. Subramanian, the Minister of Health, paid a meeting to the hospital and spoke with the medical staff regarding the victim's circumstance. On social media, a video of the Health Minister visiting the victim has gone viral. Teynampet Police have filed a report and are conducting an investigation.
