Unemployment crisis made 7000 Engineers and Graduates apply for Sanitary worker posts in Tamil Nadu
Many reports suggest that unemployment has risen to a record high of 7 per cent in last April. It is claimed that the reason for it to be the change in methodology, giving more weight to educated people, which had higher unemployment rates than illiterates. Hence the educated youth are opting for the skill-less and less qualified jobs in the last half-decade. Though there are private jobs with a reputed status, people are choosing for the grade four jobs which have security.
Here is an interesting update on the eligible graduate choosing for secured jobs despite it is not suited for their degree.
In an incident in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to find out what the unemployment rate is in the country. The government has issued a notification for 549 Grade-1 sanitation jobs. Approximately 7000 engineers, graduates and diploma holders have applied for these jobs. The authorities have been conducting interviews for three days from Wednesday to look into their affidavits. Of these, 70 per cent are those who have completed the minimum qualified tenth grade.
Though there are private jobs with a reputed status, people are opting for the grade four jobs which have security.
Some of them are currently working in private employment. However, being a government job and an attractive salary, they did not hesitate to apply for sanitation jobs. Those who have been working in the contract for ten years have also used for these permanent jobs.
Many graduates do not get the jobs they deserve. In private companies, working for 12 hours without job security, however, only gets Rs.6000-Rs.7000. Family nutrition is becoming a burden. Sanitation jobs are just three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening with a salary of around Rs. 20,000.
