Update: 2019-07-18 09:39 IST

Aadhaar-PAN name mismatch:

If you are unable to link your Aadhaar Card with the PAN Card, please check the details registered with PAN and Aadhaar cards. It would be best if you made sure that your demographic information like date of birth, name and gender should match in both the documents. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) issues Aadhaar Card, which is a valid 12-digit identification number. It is issued free of cost. The Income Tax Department issues the Permanent Account Number (PAN) which is a ten-digit alphanumeric identifier. Do remember that each assessee individual, firm gets a unique PAN.

How to match the PAN name and Aadhaar Card name?

If your name is different in PAN and Aadhaar Card, you will have difficulty in linking your PAN and Aadhaar Card.

If there is a slight mismatch in the Aadhaar Card name with that of PAN, you will receive an Aadhaar One Time Password (OTP) on your mobile number. However, to get that OTP, PAN cardholders must make sure that details related to gender and date of birth in Aadhaar and PAN remain the same. The linking is not possible if names in the Aadhaar and PAN mismatch entirely then. In that case, the concerned individual needs to make the necessary changes in either the PAN database or Aadhaar.
