Update: 2019-08-13 12:59 IST

Jio's GigaFiber broadband service will be commercially available from next month. The main attraction of Jio Fiber is high-speed internet and low-cost tariff; Reliance is planning to look to build a technology-driven ecosystem for home and business users.

The company's AGM 2019 presented the roadmap which includes Mixed Reality, 4K content and the Internet of things.

Jio Fiber for Customers

Reliance Jio is all set to mess up broadband space with low-cost tariffs the way it did with Jio's mobile service in 2016. The Reliance Jio base tariff plan is priced at Rs 700 per month with a data speed of up to 100Mbps. Reliance is also combining a free landline service with Jio Fiber. Jio is also offering free HD or 4K TV and 4K decoder with annual data plans from Jio Fiber. Some of the gifts announced at the AGM include the JioPostPaid Plus priority service, including the content of the OTT platforms and a "Jio First-day-first-show" for movie fans.

JioCall

The JioCall service considered as the first video conferencing solution for Indian households will allow users to make video calls through their televisions. Users can also make multi-party video conferences. The service is interoperable on all devices, including televisions, and users can make video conferences through JioCall for free.

Jio set-top-box

The Reliance Jio set-top-box is similar to an intelligent multimedia player and comes with features such as video conferencing, voice search and access to popular OTT platforms. Another great feature of the Reliance Jio set-top-box is that it supports online gaming with 4k resolution. Reliance Jio also introduced a multiplayer online network. Jio said the decoder supports all popular gaming consoles and controllers. It also stated that the graphics performance of the set-top-box is "on par with the best in the world" and offers "zero latency."

Mixed Reality Holoboard

Reliance Jio in collaboration with the MR startup Tesseract launched features based on Mixed Reality. Taking advantage of GigaFiber broadband service, Jio MR "Holoboard" headset is aimed at three categories: shopping, entertainment and education. According to the demonstration in RIL AGM, Jio MR headset will enable users to create a 3D virtual avatar and try on different garments. It will also help users watch movies in cinematic mode, similar to ANT-VR headsets. Reliance Jio will sell Holoboard separately at an "affordable" price.

Startups

Reliance Jio also announced free cloud and connectivity solutions for "budding startups" in India. It will deliver "custom designed packages" for diverse startups. The service will be available from January 2020. The company also announced plans to invest in new startups. Reliance Jio and Microsoft announced a 10-year partnership to integrate Microsoft's Azure cloud with the Jio's next data centres in the country.
