Jio Fiber launched today; Check out availability, plans, pricing and more
Today, Reliance Jio is all set to launch its broadband services. Initially, the broadband service was called Jio GigaFiber which was later renamed to Jio Fiber.
Know these 5 things about the new broadband service.
Jio Fiber Availability
Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries Chairman, announced at the AGM event that JioFiber broadband would be available across major cities and town of the country. Firstly the service will be available in selected in cities in India.
At present, Jio GigaFiber connections are available in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Surat, Vadodara, Chennai, Noida, Ghaziabad, Bhubaneshwar, Varanasi, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Surat, Agra, Meerut, Vizag, Lucknow, Jamshedpur, Haridwar, Gaya, Patna, Port Blair, Punjab and some more states.
Jio Fiber plans and pricing
JioFiber can bring the maximum speed up to 1Gbps while the basic plans start at 100Mbps speeds. The Reliance Jio base tariff plan is priced at Rs 700 per month with a data speed of up to 100Mbps. The Jio Fiber broadband plans will be priced between Rs 700 to Rs 10,000 per month depending on the plans.
In the introductory offer, Jio Fiber will be offered to select users for free for the first 90 days.
Jio Fiber Welcome offer
Jio Fiber Welcome Offer will is rolled out to attract new customers. Reliance Jio is also offering customers a Full HD Television or a Home PC and a 4K Set-Top-Box absolutely free who choose for the annual plan. However, details about the plan are yet to be known.
Jio Fiber First-day first show at home
Jio Fiber customers can watch new movies at home on the same day of the release. This service will be rolled out in mid of 2020.
Reliance has also told that local cable operators who've partnered with Jio can cater to audiences with the Jio set-top box which will take the feed from cable operators associated with MSOs like Den and Hathway that the company had recently took over. So your cableTV will be there alongside your other OTT content.
Jio Set-Top Box with gaming support
Jio Set-Top Box is also said to deliver "console-like" gaming experiences.
"This will be at par with the leading gaming platforms globally," declared Akash Ambani, who briefly played FIFA 19 on stage to demonstrate multiplayer support on the Jio Set-Top Box. The device is also said to support "almost all gaming controllers" and can work using a virtual controller through a smartphone. It will also have built-in graphics.
