Microsoft to bring a new version of Outlook; may replace the integrated mail and calendar apps

We recently heard that Microsoft plans to bring a significant change to its Windows 10 operating system by reviewing the start menu and other user interface elements. However, this not all. The company is testing a new Outlook app that will likely replace its built-in mail and calendar apps in Windows 10.

The app is codenamed "Monarch" and One Outlook and is a new version of "Outlook designed for big-screen experiences" according to a leaked version of the app, mentioned by a Twitter user (via The Verge ). It has been mentioned that the leaked app does not work without a full internal Microsoft account. The One Outlook application may replace the desktop versions (Win32 and UWP) of Outlook, Outlook Web Access, and the Mac OS desktop client.

The company is also said to host the full web version of this new Outlook online. The leaked app is early, and even Microsoft is warning employees that it is currently designed for "brave dog lovers" and does not include an offline mode. For those who don't know, "dogfood" is a term used by companies to test their code's first versions.

It is not sure when exactly this final version of Outlook will reach the masses. However, Windows Central reports that this will go into a more extensive test program by the end of 2021, which means it could get all Windows PCs by 2022.

A separate report mentioned that Microsoft is testing a new "voice launcher" feature to allow users to interact with applications and files using voice commands. The feature is not available to all users.
