YouTube Introduces New Features to its Desktop Website
YouTube has rolled out a new feature to its desktop website. YouTube's mini-player, the picture-in-picture mode allows you to scroll through the rest of the screen while watching videos that shrink to a small box on the bottom right corner of the screen. It will now enable viewers to use features like play, pause and restart videos. Users can now maximise the video they are watching directly from the mini player with new 'expand' option in the top left.
YouTube has also added features to manage playlists in a better way. Users can now sort videos in a playlist under categories including Date Published, Date Added and Most Popular. From the playlist page, one can edit playlist privacy settings directly. YouTube will let collaborators manage playlists through the "collaborate" option in the three-dot menu on the playlist.
Google's video platform also added a new "share" button on the playlist page that allows sharing videos, but now the users can share entire playlists. With this feature, the option to dismiss playlists in the Up Next section by selecting "Not Interested" as it was with the videos.
YouTube launched a separate kid-centric website earlier this year, the desktop version of its YouTube app called YouTube Kids. For iOS and Android users, the app was launched as the family-friendly app. The company launched a separate website later. Besides this, it also announced new features that were coming to YouTube Kids app. The YouTube Kids app allows parents to choose from three different age groups — preschool, younger and older — to opt for the right content for their kids.
