India partially hit by Facebook and Instagram outages

There were reports about Facebook servers being down for maintenance appear to be originating from Europe and the USA. However, Indian users were affected partially.

Again, Facebook servers appear to be "down for maintenance", sparking off yet another outrage fest through reports on Google, and as always, on rival micro-blogging platform Twitter.

As per several tweets shared by users across the world, when they were trying to login to Facebook, there was an error message showing what is being referred to as "error code 2".

While there is no clarity what precisely the issue is, Twitter users mentioned that the error message being received states that at present, the social media platform is down for maintenance.

The issue has majorly affected parts of Europe, North America and South-East Asia. Currently, Facebook's India servers seem to be working, though some Indian users on Twitter reported that at the moment photo uploading feature on Facebook is down.

In the past hours, Indian users tweeted from Delhi and surrounding areas that the service was down for a while. As of publishing, we could still access our own Facebook accounts, as well as upload and post photos.

Users complained on Twitter regarding the rather frequent downtime that Facebook and its services such as Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp have been going through of late. The outage lasted for multiple hours and caused a healthy spike in activity on Twitter, which is always the situation whenever Facebook faces downtime.

Facebook's Indian users can still access the service, but there might be isolated incidents of difficulty to access the social media platform in India as well.

Instagram and WhatsApp remain active so far, as of now there have been no reports of their server failures.
