Update: 2019-03-12 15:22 IST

Hold on! Don't hit the update button for new features on WhatsApp.

According to reports, there is a new bug on WhatsApp version 2.19.66 causing photos to disappear. WhatsApp beta users are getting affected by this bug and updating to WhatsApp 2.19.66 might result in deletion of WhatsApp chat photos. Luckily, for group chats, the photos are saved in Gallery.

A user reported about this issue on Twitter and cautioned others from downloading this version as there are no extra features in this.

Some users also told that WhatsApp has already fixed the problem, but some users complained about the issue getting continued.

Several other users also reported that they are facing difficulty to see WhatsApp statuses. The bug is turning WhatsApp statuses grey making user assumes that were blocked by their friends.

In the meantime, to fix the issue WhatsApp has recently rolled out an update on iPhones that enabled anyone to go past the Face ID lock and read chats.

Recently WhatsApp introduced a new feature on iOS through which users can lock WhatsApp by using Face ID or a password. This native WhatsApp lock was in demand from a long time for privacy purpose. This will help users to protect WhatsApp chats if their mobile is being used by someone else. This feature is expected to arrive soon in Android phones too.

In order to oppose abusive behaviour and hate messages, Department of Telecom (DoT) has announced that people can officially file a complaint against unwanted behaviour from strangers.

The victim just needs to provide a screen-shot of the message, along with the mobile number and e-mail it to this address, ccaddn-dot@nic.in.

"If anyone is receiving abusive/ offensive/ death threats/ vulgar WhatsApp messages, please send screen-shots of the message along with the mobile numbers at ccaddn-dot@nic.in

DoT Controller Communications, Ashish Joshi, has tweeted, "We will take it up with the telecom operators and police heads for necessary action."
