Apple Special Event 2019: iPhone 11 Series May Not Feature Two-Way Wireless Charging

Update: 2019-09-10 18:12 IST

We got a report earlier this year that said the 2019 iPhones would support two-way charging technology. So the iPhones could charge other devices like the Apple Watch or AirPods, speculated by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo has revised his prediction and said that the new iPhones might not have that feature at all.

"We have revised our previous predictions...The new iPhone may not support two-way wireless charging because the charging efficiency may not meet Apple's requirements," he reportedly wrote in his latest report.

Also, in the earlier reports, Kuo has predicted that of the three handsets — iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max — two handsets will feature a thin OLED screen. These handsets will also have extra battery space without increasing the overall thickness of the device.

Kuo considers that there will also be a 6.1-inch model, which will likely be the update to the iPhone XR, in addition to the two models. This model will continue with the LCD display and get a small battery boost of 5 per cent or even lower.

Moreover, he has also anticipated that all three upcoming models of the iPhones will retain a Lightning connector instead of USB-C. Also expected to be retained are Apple's TrueDepth camera and an associated display notch.

Kuo further added that the iPhone XR successor might be upgraded from 3 GB RAM to 4 GB of RAM.
