Earlier this year, at the Consumer Electronic Show 2020, Google announced that very soon its voice assistant will read out the webpages aloud to the users. Google has rolled out globally a new google assistant feature called, "Read it", the feature, when triggered, will be able to read out the webpages in 42 different languages.
To use this feature, all you have to do is open a webpage, and give the voice command, "Hey Google, read it" or "Hey Google, read this page".
You can modify the speed as per your convenience and, you also have an option to skip 10 seconds forward and 10 seconds backward. You can translate the page into several languages which include Hindi, German, Spanish, Nepali, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and the list goes on. Four different voice options include lime, sapphire, jungle and royal.
Users will be able to use this feature to read web pages open on their Google Chrome, Google Search or the news app. The Google Assistant will mechanically scroll down the page and highlight the words as it reads it out aloud. This feature is already available on all Android devices across the globe.
To remind you, this year, Google has called off its I/O event due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The event was scheduled in California from 12-14 May in California.
