Google Pay to soon allow users to gift gold to others

Update: 2019-11-30 11:00 IST

Google Pay is working on a feature where it will allow its users to gift gold to other users online. This feature was spotted in the app's code (v48.0.001_RC03) by XDA Developers. Apparently, the backend codes of the app suggest that Google may be working on a feature that will allow users to gift gold to each other.

Currently, there is no clear information on when exactly this feature will be implemented or how it will work. It is also relatively possible that if it faces any problems during the test Google may not launch this feature.

Earlier this year, Google announced its partnership with the MMTC-PAMP India bullion refinery to allow users to buy and sell 99.99 percent of 24 karat gold. The feature allows users to buy gold for any value, which MMTC-PAMP stores in its name in secure vaults. The GAP value is also stored in a "Gold Vault" section and directly from the app users can easily sell GAP. Users can buy and sell gold at any time at the latest price, updated every few minutes, as shown in the Google Pay application.

In September this year, at the Google for India event, the company announced that the app has 67 million monthly active users and $110 billion in transactions in 2019.
