Google Phone app may become Google Call soon
Few weeks after changing the logo for Gmail, Calendar, and other apps, Google is now considering to change the icons for its Android phone app. As per the information leaked via a YouTube ad, a new multi-coloured icon was detected for Google's phone app with an alleged new name: Google Call, media reported.
As per a report by 9to5Google, the YouTube ad also underscores the tech giant's caller ID feature, thus saying, "Reliable Caller ID lets you respond with confidence."
The report added that the YouTube ad for the Phone by Google app, as it is now officially known on the Google Play Store, features a download link and highlights a 'reliable caller ID' feature.
In early October, Google replaced its iconic Gmail envelope logo after seven years with a design that is more in line with other Google products. The revamped Gmail logo is now an M made in the basic colours of Google's blue, red, yellow and green brands.
Earlier this week, the tech giant announced that it would put users in control of their data and Google experience, with new settings for smart features and personalization in Gmail. "Think: tabbed inbox, Smart Compose and Smart Reply in Gmail; reminders of when your bills are due in Google Assistant; and restaurant reservations in Google Maps," said Maalika Manoharan, Google Product Manager.
