Google Play Store Suspended Mitron, TikTok Rival App

Mitron, the desi app that recently got all the fame and was being called as the TikTok rivals from India, has now been suspended from Google Play Store. The app, which was created by a developer from Pakistan. Mitron app was suspended as the app violated Google's 'spam and minimum functionality' policy. Google soon removed the Mitron app after CNBC TV8 approached the search giant for more details about its promoters.

Google's policy page mentioned that the apps violate the rules that copy content from others without making any fundamental changes or adding value. "We don't allow apps that merely provide the same experience as other apps already on Google Play. Apps should provide value to users through the creation of unique content or services," the policy states. Besides, the app should provide an essential degree of functionality and respectful user experience."

This ties with the statement made by Irfan Sheikh, the founder and CEO of Qboxus a while back. Sheikh said that the TicTic app didn't go through any change after the IIT student reportedly purchased it. The app went on to Google Play Store as it is with the name Mitron.

"There is no problem with what the developer has done. He paid for the script and used it, which is okay. But, the problem is with people referring to it as an Indian-made app, which is not true, especially because they have not made any changes," said Shiekh.

As stated in the reports, the app didn't have any privacy policy of its own until approached by CNBC TV18, which raised questions on the legitimacy of the app. Adding to this was a recent report that stated Mitron app account had a significant vulnerability and hackers could quickly gain access to your account exploiting the loophole.

It is to be noted that the identity of the person/company that currently owns the Mitron app is still not known.
