iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 to get smoother OLED screens

Will the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max get high refresh rate screens? This is a big mystery, and it will probably go away once when Apple launches these phones sometime in September. However, a new report doesn't suggest that Apple is likely to update the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max displays, which could have a higher refresh rate. In fact, the report talks about the notch style on these iPhone models and how it will evolve by 2024. Oh, and the iPhone 14 Max we know of could be the iPhone 14 Plus.

The report comes from the market research agency Omdia, which talks in detail about the display panels of the upcoming iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 series will make use of LTPS and LTPO OLED display panels, both of which promise a higher refresh rate. . Samsung Display, as expected, will supply the OLED display for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, along with the iPhone 13 in 2022. LG, however, will supply displays for the iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 14 Pro Max, while BOE will manufacture screens for iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 in 2022.

iPhone 14 series screen details appear

Most interestingly, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will get the updated LTPS OLED displays. This could mean that the iPhone 14 and Plus variant will get higher refresh rates, the absence of which has been a big complaint with the current-gen iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini models. However, the LTPS OLED display will not support variable refresh rate technology. So it could be locked to a 90Hz or 120Hz refresh rate.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also have the iconic iPhone 13 display notch. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, will have variable refresh rate LTPO OLED displays. These phones will also lose the notch and go for a hole-cutting solution with the selfie camera and Face ID sensors.

It even says that Apple is working on a solution to hide Face ID sensors under the screen and that the technology will be ready for the 2024 iPhone models. So the iPhone in 2024 might only have a camera cutout. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 series will remove the notch altogether.
