Samsung To Announce A New Vertically Folding Phone At SDC19

Rumours say that Samsung is expected to be working on a new foldable device after it announced the Galaxy Fold officially last month. Now Samsung has confirmed those rumours by advertising a vertically folding phone.

According to the report by XDA-Developers, a video has been shared at SDC19 (Samsung Developer Conference). What we can guess from the teaser is that this new device will have a clamshell design similar to the rumoured Motorola Razr folding phone.

This latest phone will have a much different form factor than the Galaxy Fold, which happened to be a small tablet that could be folded into a narrow phone. However, this new Samsung prototype looks to have a lengthy screen size which can be folded to make it more pocketable.

This new Samsung folding phone has the model number SM-F700F, and it could be the rumoured 256 GB foldable that we've heard about.

According to the image we have seen on a Chinese website and shared by Gizmochina, earlier this month a poster for a folding device had been snapped at an expo in China.

The phone is called the Galaxy W20 5G, and as the name suggests, the phone will be 5G enabled. The poster shows a folding device that again hints at the W20 being the next folding device that the company might launch.

Samsung generally announced the W-series in November although the launch this time is postponed. The Galaxy Fold was announced in February along with the Galaxy S10, and this could be the same case for W20 5G although it is a bit weird that the poster for the device has been spotted very early.
