Slack launches encryption keys for better user control

Update: 2019-03-19 15:25 IST

Slack has announced that it is launching Enterprise Key Management (EKM), a new tool that allows customers to control their encryption keys in the enterprise version of the app.

The new app is aimed at customers in regulated industries who might need more control over security, TechCrunch reported.

The keys are managed in the AWS KMS key management tool. The new tool gives greater control over the keys that Slack uses to encrypt messages and files being shared inside the app.

With the tool, customers can also gain greater visibility into activity inside of Slack through the Audit Logs API. The logs allow customers to know of risks and anomalies immediately and cut off access if there is any suspicious activity.

The EKM for Slack is available starting today for Enterprise Grid customers for an additional fee.
