These 15 iPhones may support iOS 14: Is your iPhone on the list?
Apple WWDC 2020 is all set to kicks off at 10:30 pm IST on June 22. The virtual-annual event will give us a first glimpse of the next-generation software for all Apple products, which also includes iOS 14. While we expect many new features, several old iPhones will get iOS 14 support.
Apple is known to offer software update support for its older iPhones. The rumours suggest Apple may push the iOS 14 update to 15 iPhones that were launched after September 2015. So it means that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users will also probably get their hands on the latest iOS 14 features, that Apple will roll out after the iPhone 12 series launch event.
Although Apple typically releases the stable software update of its latest operating system in September, due to the pandemic situation, it is likely to get delayed by a month or two.
As per the reported leak, Apple will continue providing software updates to iPhones that were launched five years back, something which we do not find on Android smartphones.
The 15 iPhones that are expected to get the iOS 14 software update:
1. iPhone 6s
2. iPhone 6s Plus
3. iPhone SE (2016)
4. iPhone 7
5. iPhone 7 Plus
6. iPhone 8
7. iPhone 8 Plus
8. iPhone X
9. iPhone XR
10. iPhone XS
11. iPhone XS Max
12. iPhone 11
13. iPhone 11 Pro
14. iPhone 11 Pro Max
15. iPhone SE (2020)
For iPhone 6s series and the iPhone SE (2016), probably iOS 14 will be the last major software update. iOS 14 build code has hinted about some significant new features like home screen view with widgets, Augmented Reality (AR) experiences apps, etc.
WWDC is scheduled to start at 10.30 pm IST on June 22, i.e. today. During the event, the confirmed list of all iPhones supporting iOS 14 may be announced.
