1 crore sanctioned for Journalists Colony: MLA Gangula Kamalakar

Karimnagar: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government is committed for the welfare of the journalists present across the State, stated MLA Gangula Kamalakar. He laid foundation stone for various developmental works in the Journalists Colony near Ujwala Park on the outskirts of Karimnagar city on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA G Kamalakar said journalists are considered as the fourth pillar of the society and the government is committed for their welfare, which had allotted Rs 1 crore for the development of Journalist Colony. In the first phase, Rs 50 lakh were sanctioned for the construction of a compound wall and community hall.

The MLA said that about five acres of land was allotted for the journalists by the previous government 14 years ago but left it without any development. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is committed to do justice to all the journalists working in the field.

After developing the colony, scribes can apply for loans for the construction of houses in the plots allotted to them and the government is also going to allot plots to those, who were not allotted earlier, he assured.

MLC Naradasu Laxman Rao, Telangana Working Journalist Union State president Nagunuri Shekar, former corporators Sunil Rao, Bandari Venu, AV Ramana, TUWJ State executive members were present along with others.
