Warangal: With the unconfirmed news doing rounds that the proposed periodic over-hauling (POH) workshop at Kazipet is likely to be shifted to some other location in Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Warangal Urban district unit has come down heavily on the TRS government for its lackadaisical approach in acquiring land for the POH.

Speaking to the media persons here on Wednesday, BJP Urban District President Rao Padma Reddy squarely blamed the State government for not taking measures to earmark the required land for the POH. "It's been more than two years since the South-Central Railway (SCR) Zone had decided to set up a POH unit at Kazipet with an estimated cost of Rs 269 crore, however, the government is yet to clear the hurdles for establishing the POH," Padma said.

The people's representatives of the TRS are more interested in settlements and land encroachments than focusing on issues that were holding up the development, she alleged.

"With an intention to provide jobs to locals, the Central government led by the BJP had sanctioned the POH unit at Kazipet. The TRS government will have to take the responsibility if the Railways scraps or shifts the unit to somewhere else," she said.

Even though the Centre had included Warangal city in Smart City Project, Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), the State Government failed to spur developmental activity, Padma said. The state of internal roads in Warangal city is awful, she said, accusing the people's representatives of the TRS of being insensitive towards the problems faced by the denizens.

It's high time that the State government focus on POH and ensure that work on it commence quickly, Rao Padma Reddy said.

Former MLA Vannala Sriramulu demanded the TRS Working President KT Rama Rao to take back his remarks against BJP national working president JP Nadda. Referring to KTR's comments that he has no idea who Nadda is, Sriramulu advised KTR to be prudent while criticising others. "Nadda has been in politics even before KTR was born. The BJP will not stoop to his level to hit back," he said, demanding apology from KTR.
