10 bus shelters soon in Secunderabad
Secunderabad: Aspart of the Swachh Hyderabad initiative, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is going to construct as many as 10 bus shelters in the Secunderabad zone.The prime aim is to make effective use of the available space.
According to the officials, out of the 10 bus shelters, two Grade I-AC bus shelters would be built each at Secunderabad station and Tarnaka and the remaining eight shelters of Grade II, III and IV would be constructed across the zone in thecoming months.The GHMC is roping in private agencies for construction and maintenance of the shelters with facilities including mobile charging.
Speaking to The Hans India, Assistant Engineer, Secunderabad Zone, P Beula,said, "The target is to complete the construction of these bus shelters in another two weeks. The construction is being taken up by the third party, so we have no estimated cost of the same.
The prime idea of constructing shelters is to make effective use of the available spaces.
These new bus shelters will replace old ones that are in bad condition," she adds.
The locations where the shelters are being are one near Secunderabad station, one near Tarnaka metro station, two near Osmania University, one in Mettuguda, two near Clock tower Secunderabad, one in Lalapet near Jayashankar stadium and 2 near Secunderabad metro station.
"All these facilities are BEING developed without compromising on the RTC's requirements. There will be sufficient seating space and sufficient space to display route details, bus numbers, fares, schedules, route guide, etc. " concluded P Beula. GHMC is also going to construct 200 new bus shelters that would be equipped with toilets across city soon.
