100 street dogs poisoned in Nagole
Nagole: Close to 100 dogs were poisoned to death, allegedly on the orders of civic authorities at the new Animal Birth Control centre at Nagole.
The incident came to light when an animal activist from the area sent in videos of over 40 dead bodies of dogs being transported in GHMC truck on Friday.
In a similar instance in June, 100 dogs were poisoned and were transported in a truck. Swinging into action, a team of activists rushed to the location to gather evidence and lodged a complaint under IPC 429 and 11(1) I of Prevention of Cruelty against Animal Act and Animal Birth Control rules, 2001.
"The GHMC is not practicing ethical scientific measures to manage dog population anywhere in Telangana and culling the dogs due to man-animal conflict is not an option from the dog's point of view," said Shreya Paropkari an activist from Humane Society India.
The truck filled with carcasses was taken to Vanasthalipuram cattle compound to dump.
