1,000 crore plan in process to develop Warangal

Warangal: Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said a plan is being chalked out to develop Warangal with a whopping Rs 1,000 crore. The Minister inaugurated the first-floor block in the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) office here on Thursday. It may be mentioned here that KUDA authorities gave a corporate look to their office with an outlay of Rs 5 crore.

"After preparing a blueprint for the all-round development of the city, we will forward it for the approval of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao," Errabelli said. Referring to the works related to Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT and HRIDAY, the Minister said city is on the right path of development.

He said land acquisition process for the inner ring road (IRR) is being expedited. The Bhadrakali Lakefront Promenade project could well become one of the major attractions in the country. The precincts of Padmakshi temple and historical Jain site in Hanamkonda would be given fillip to attract tourists from across from the world. The development of Fort Warangal is already underway with an outlay of Rs 9 crore, he added. Efforts are on to acquire land around 1,000 pillars temple to improve the aesthetics of the place.

Referring to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), Errabelli termed it as a wonder in the history of Telangana. "Despite facing problems such as court cases, the government made it possible. The Chief Minister visited the project quite a few times to personally monitor its progress," he said. The Minister said the government sanctioned Rs 650 crore for the maintenance of canals and construction of check dams.

Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao, legislators Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, D Vinay Bhaskar, Nannapuneni Narender, Thatikonda Rajaiah, Aroori Ramesh, KUDA chairman Marri Yadava Reddy, Warangal urban and Rural District Collectors Prashanth Jeevan Patil and M Haritha were among others present.
