105th birth anniversary of Kaloji celebrated in Karimnagar
Karimnagar: Kaloji Narayana Rao, who is popularly known as 'people's peot', participated in many movements including the separate statehood movement, said District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed here on Monday.
The Collector along with other officials paid rich tributes by garlanding the photo of Kaloji Narayana Rao to celebrate his 105th birth anniversary here at the Collectorate conference hall in Karimnagar.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed said that the State government is celebrating the birth anniversary of Kaloji officially and announce the day as Telugu Literature Day.
Kaloji had spent his life in inspiring and motivating the people socially and politically. He used his pen as gun and wrote the poems which had great impact on the people. He strove hard for establishing a library in every village.
He is one of the great poets who gave slogan of 'birth is yours, death is yours but the life is meant for country' (Puttuka needhi, chavu needhi kani brathukantha deshanidhi). Kaloji is known for writing poems in different and unique style. Kaloji is called as great humanist and as a Telangana Vemana. He stood as a role model for many and became an inspiration for present generation youth, he added.
District Revenue Officer Praveenya, Zilla Parishad Chief Planning Officer Venkata Madhava Rao, Revenue Divisional Officer Anand Kumar, Collectorate Administrative Officer P Raj Kumar and officials of various departments were present on the occasion.
