11 passengers admitted to OGH in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: More than a dozen passengers were rushed to Osmania General Hospital in Afzalgunj after the train accident. Most of the passengers have a fracture and are undergoing treatment. One passenger Shekhar was shifted to ICU ward with serious injuries.

OGH RMO Dr Mohammed Rafi said, "Specialists from orthopedic, ENT, anesthesia, cardiology departments were alerted and are on the job." In all, four injured passengers are in observation and admitted in OGH, and remaining injured passengers were discharged after treatment.

Four injured patients include Malamma (60), from Janagoan, had broken left leg and has injuries in back and Anuradhamma, 36, has fracture in the left leg and other injuries. While Rahimuddin, 55, has right hand fracture and Shekhar 36, a lecturer, who had injured neck, damaged nose, left knee and also injuries in eyebrow, is in critical condition, these patients are in ICU of the hospital.

Later in evening, the Railway authorities visited the OGH and interacted with the doctors about the condition of the injured patients, and also met with the injured patients and an amount of Rs 25,000 cash to the 3 patients for financial assistance. After the doctors certify the financial assistance to remaining seriously injured patients will be provided, said Assistant General Manager GVR Prasad.

A statement from the South Central Railways stated, "Six coaches of MMTS service and three coaches of Hundry Express are affected while 12 passengers were injured."

"Senior Railway Officials including B B Singh, Additional General Manager, Chief Security Commissioner, Division Railway Manager, Hyderabad, Chief Medical Director, Chief Safety Officer along with Medical Relief Van and Accident Relief Train rushed to the spot to undertake relief and restoration works. A high-level enquiry will be conducted on the incident," the statement read.
