12 workers from Telangana stranded in Saudi
Twelve workers from Telangana who have gone to Saudi Arabia for work were arrested after failing to produce a work permit.
Reddyboina Raju from Dubbaka said that he had gone to Saudi five years ago through an agent and was given a permit for a year. After working for one-year municipality, Raju failed to renew his permit despite several pleas.
"After our stay became illegal, we have not paid salaries and asked to stop working since January this year," said Raju.
The other workers hail from Nizamabad, Sircilla, Kamareddy and Jagtial also said that their firm they working in has to facilitate their travel back to India but no interest is being shown.
Shaheeh Sayyed, a social activist from Kuwait shared their woes on social media and also brought their plea to the notice of the Indian Embassy.
