14 held on charge of gambling in Mahabubabad

Mahabubabad: The police took 14 persons in to custody on charge of gambling, during a raid on a dilapidated house at Kanakamma Thanda near Buddharam gram panchayat on Tuesday and seized Rs 1.23 lakh in cash, 12 mobile phones, five motorcycles and playing cards from them.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the house and arrested K Nagaraju, K Suresh, P Ramulu of Dornakal, Naresh of Pinireddygudem, B Pandu Kumar, G Ramesh of Buddharam Thanda, B Vasanth Rao of Rampuram, Ch Srinivas, Anji Rao of Wyra, K Rama Rao of Siripuram, M venkateshwarlu of Yellandu, B Umesh, A Arjun and V Bhadram of DKJ.

One of the gamblers has managed to escape, it's learnt. The accused were produced before the court. The superintendent of police N Kotireddy commended the team that participated in the raid. Inspector Y Ramesh, sub-inspector Srinivas Reddy, A S-I Nageshwar Rao, constables Gopal Veerababu Ravi, Ramesh and home guard Kishan were among others present.
