16-day-old baby girl abducted from Khammam hospital

Khammam: An unidentified woman, who promised a woman to feed her 16-day-old girl, fled with the girl from the Khammam headquarter hospital on Tuesday. According to sources, Ch Ramadevi (25), in labour, was admitted to the Primary Health Centre in Vemsoor mandal headquarter on November 9, and delivered the baby girl. After examining the girl, the doctors advised the parents to take her to headquarter hospital as the baby born with less weight and was also suffering from mild health problems.

Parents, on the advice of doctors, admitted the baby at the headquarter hospital on November 10. On Tuesday morning, one unidentified woman approached Rama Devi and offered to feed the girl who was crying. The unidentified woman also said that she also gives birth to baby who was undergoing treatment in the same hospital.

Believing the woman, Rama Devi gave the girl to her. When Ramadevi's mother Savitramma went out for washing clothes and while Ramadevi was asleep, the unidentified woman fled the hospital with the baby. When Ramadevi and her mother could not find the baby, they lodged a complaint with the two town police, who registered a case and took up the investigation. Police also noticed that the security guard who was supposed to do guard the gate was not there at the time of the incident. Khammam ACP PV Ganesh informed that police were investigating the case in all angles and would nab the woman soon.
