2 held for growing ganja in Nirmal
Nirmal: Police arrested two persons, who are cultivating banned ganja as the inner crop of red gram and seized 10 kgs ganja worth Rs 2 lakh near Rajeshwar Thanda under Sarangapur Mandal in Nirmal district on Thursday.
Acting over a tip-off, the police led by Superintendent of Police C Shashidhar Raju raided the Thanda where banned ganja cultivation is going on. Speaking to the media, the SP said that two persons - Ratan Singh and Nanak Singh – were cultivating ganja in between reg gram as an inner crop in their agricultural land and ganja trees had grown to 4 to 8 feet high. The police also seized 10 kgs dried ganja worth Rs 2 lakh, which is ready for sale from the accused and handed over the case to the Excise department, who registered a case. An investigation is on.
