2-year-old dies after falling into sump in Hyderabad

A two-year-old boy died after falling into water sump on Saturday night here at Shahpur Nagar under Jeedimetla police station limits in Hyderabad.

According to the police, Santosh Kumar and Sravani, a native of Papannapet mandal in Medak district has moved to Shahpur Nagar along with their two-year-old son Vijayakrishna (2) to earn their living.

On Saturday night, neighbours opened the sump for water and left it unclosed. Vijayakrishna, who was playing near the sump accidentally slipped into it and drowned.

The couple found their son floating on water and shifted him to a nearby private hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The police registered a case and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem.
