20-acre cemetery for deaths caused due to coronavirus in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: With a surge in the coronavirus deaths in the state for the past few weeks, the Telangana government is making arrangements to built a cemetery to bury those who died of the deadly disease. About 20-acre land has been allocated to the cemetery in Rangareddy and Medchal districts.
The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in a letter directed the collectors of respective districts to transfer the land. The officials also assured not to cause any inconvenience to the people residing in nearby areas and were also remained tight-lipped about the area to avoid issues from the local residents.
Also, the GHMC officials are gearing up to repair the electric crematorium machines in the Hyderabad. If it comes into existence, the funeral of a coronavirus infected person will be held in less than 10 minutes, officials said.
So far, the state has reported over 100 deaths and the death toll is believed to increase further due to the rise in the cases. Unlike the other dead bodies are buried, the land used to bury the bodies of coronavirus patients cannot be reused and take up more space.
