Khammam: As many as 64 farmers submitted nominations to participate in Khammam parliamentary elections. According to them, 200 farmers will file papers in the coming days.
They submitted the nomination papers to the returning officer at the Collectorate on Friday. Associated with ITC paper industry, farmers are cultivating Subabulu in 10,000 hectares in Khammam and Bhadradri- Kothagudem districts.
Farmers alleged that ITC paper industry had reduced the purchasing price of Subabulu tremendously from Rs 6,100 previously to around Rs 3, 000 to Rs 4,000 now.
They also alleged that ITC also made it difficult to sell their product. As protest, in order to bring their suffering into the notice of the Central government, 64 farmers from both the districts submitted nominations.
