21 in fray for MLC seat

Congress candidate for the by-election to Legislative Council under Warangal Local Authorities’ Constituency Engala Venkat Ram Reddy filing his nomination papers with the returning officer S Dayanand in Hanamkonda on Tuesday

Warangal: Filing of nomination papers for the by-election to Legislative Council under Warangal Local Authorities' Constituency came to an end on Tuesday.

In all, a total of 21 candidates filed 38 sets of nomination papers, according to officials.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Pochampally Srinivas Reddy and Congress' Engala Venkat Ram Reddy are among others, who filed nomination papers with the returning officer S Dayanand on the last day.

Even though Chelpuri Venkanna had filed his papers claiming to be the nominee of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he has not submitted 'AA' & 'BB' form. So was Thakallapally Ravinder of Congress.

The other independents in the fray are - Bhukya Swamy Naik, Shaik Mahammad Ali, Raju Emmadi, Satla Komuraiah, Pattem Shankaraiah, Annarapu Yakaiah, Yadagiri Rao Deshineni, Vemula Swapna, Shirisha Boini, Ch Srinivas, Lingya Maloth, Martha Rajabhadraiah, Rangaraju Ravinder, Chelpuri Venkanna, Pakanati Ramakrishna Reddy, Shanaboina Ashok and Banoth Balakrishna.

Meanwhile, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 15, and the last date for withdrawal is May 17. The polling will be held on May 31 and the counting on June 3. It may be noted here that the outgoing ZPTCs and MPTCs whose term is to end on July 5 are eligible to cast their votes.
