Karimnagar: With the requests made by the Health Minister Etela Rajendar and BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar, the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ordered the officials concerned to release 5 tmc of water for Lower Manair Dam (LMD) here on Saturday.

For supplying of pure drinking water for 24 hours to the people of Karimnagar district without any interruption through LMD, ministers Eatala Rajendar and Gangula Kamalakar took the matter to the notice of the CM KCR in a review meeting held in Hyderabad on Saturday.

They informed the CM that at present the water storage level in the LMD is only 7 tmcs which would not be sufficient to supply drinking water to the people of Karimnagar and requested the CM to supply 5 tmcs of water from Mid Manair Dam.

For supplying of water through Mission Bhagiratha project, the water level in LMD must be at least 10 tmcs. With the supply of 5 tmcs of water, the water level reaches to 12 tmcs in LMD which enables to supply water for drinking water need for the people of Karimnagar, they added.

Responding positively to the requests of Ministers Eatala Rajendar and Gangula Kamalakar, CM KCR had given green signal for supplying of 5 tmcs of water.

Daily 1 tmcs of water for five days will be supplied to LMD from MMD from Saturday evening onwards and later the district officials will supply water for 24 hours to the people of Karimnagar.
